Biography
Joanitah Nakiggwe is originally from Uganda but grew up in Northern Louisiana. In 2017 she moved to New Orleans to attend Tulane University. During her time at Tulane she studied International Development and Sociology, served as a community engagement advocate, played flute in the marching band, was a CAST fellow, served on the Diversity, Inclusion, and Equity committee on USG, and helped conduct research on accessibility and visibility with various offices. Joanitah spent a lot of her time at Tulane working closely with students from diverse backgrounds and making sure they felt welcomed and seen on campus.
Joanitah’s work has always centered the voices of students from historically marginalized communities and she is passionate about making spaces inclusive and accessible to everyone. In her role as a success coach, Joanitah hopes to continue working with students from all walks of life. Through building meaningful relationships, she wants to help students better understand themselves, achieve their goals in life, and feel like they belong at Tulane University.
