Jenna Bates is from Powder Springs, Georgia. She is a neuroscience major and public health minor in the class of 2019. On campus, she is a Tulane University Peer Health Educator and a member of the Tulane University Neuroscience Association. An interesting fact about Jenna is she studied abroad in Copenhagen during Fall of 2018, where she thrived by eating a pastry almost every single day.

Laurel Kessler is from Irvine, California and is in the Class of 2021. An interesting fact about Laurel is when she was in high school she was in technical theater and made costumes!

Alexandra Duffy

Alex Duffy is from Libertyville, IL and is in the Class of 2021. She is majoring in Finance and International Development with a minor in Spanish. She is involved as a Phi Mu Delta Chapter Member, Tulane Dance Marathon Sponsorship Chair, and is a Freeman Student Government Sophomore Representative. A fun fact about Alex is she is incredibly clumsy and has sprained her ankle while walking on completely flat ground.

Dani Vinokur

Dani is in the Class of 2021 and is from Cleveland, Ohio. She is majoring in Marketing and Management with a minor in Spanish. Currently, she is involved in Crawfest, Tulane Studios and Tulane's Branch of the American Marketing Association. Dani wants to work in the music industry, specifically music festival and concert production. An interesting fact is that she is the first person born in America from her family and Russian was her first language!

Emily Berlin

Emily Berlin is from Atlanta, GA. She is in the class of 2021 and is majoring in psychology and minoring in public health. She is involved with Greek Life on campus, intramural soccer and is the incoming vice president of the club and Tulane University for Israel. One interesting fact about Emily is that she loves the beach, but gets horribly seasick in the ocean.

Emily Cohen

Emily Cohen is from Memphis, TN.  She is a member of the class of 2021 and majoring in public health and international relations with a minor in Spanish.  On campus, she is involved in Central City Dance Team where she teaches dance to children once a week, is a member of Greek life, and was a participant in CACTUS Academy.  A couple of interesting facts about Emily are that she was a competitive dancer throughout high school and that she absolutely adores pizza. She is ecstatic to have the opportunity to serve as a Peer Mentor!

Matthew Johnson

Matthew Johnson is part of the Class of 2021. He is originally from Alexandria, Louisiana but spent most of his life in Miami, Florida! He is a Political Economy and Computer Science double major with a minor in Political Science International Development. Here at Tulane, he is a 2018 Fall Wave Leader, in College Democrats, and an ESL tutor for Catholic Charities! An interesting fact about Matthew is that he loves mangos, obviously because it's the best fruit out there!

Delaney Turton is from Tampa, FL and is in the Class of 2021. She is majoring in Legal Studies in Business and is involved in Women's Club Lacrosse and Women in Business. She has traveled to over 25 countries and wants to go to at least 80 more in the next 30 years.

Sydney Thomas

Sydney Thomas is lucky to be a part of Tulane’s 2021 class. She is from Hoover, Alabama, but is not an Alabama fan. She likes romantic candlelit dinners at Waffle House, long walks down the hallways in the WWII Museum, and working with OPD. She doesn’t know her major yet, but the end goal is law school. She is involved in TUPAS. Fun Fact: Sydney licked the Golden Gate Bridge and got pneumonia almost immediately after!

Tracy Tojo

Tracy is a native Chicagoan who is very happy to have relocated to New Orleans for college (the winters are much better in the south). She is a member of the class of 2019. She is majoring in Art History with a minor in Management. In 2017, she became the president of the After School Newcomb Tutoring club, and she is also a Cowen Scholar. Tracy discovered a passion for HIV education her sophomore year, and throughout her sophomore and junior year, she worked with NO/AIDS doing HIV testing and counseling. Back in Chicago, she works with Howard Brown Health doing the same work.

Drew Pearson

Drew Pearson is originally from the wonderful city of Chicago! She is pursuing a triple major in B.S. Linguistics, B.A. Theatre Performance, and B.A. History with a Dual Degree in the Class of 2019. Drew’s time spent at Tulane has been incredibly fulfilling, academically and artistically. This year will be her third year as TIDES Peer Mentor, and it's been wonderful to watch the program grow and evolve. She is also highly involved in the Department of Theatre and Dance, and has had the great opportunity to act in several main stage shows. She is a member of the student-run theatre performance group (TUPAS) as well. Before coming to University, she was a member of Ballet Chicago's studio company, where she received professional ballet training.

Megan Caruso

Megan Caruso is part of the class of 2021! She’s from Warwick, Rhode Island and is pursuing a dual degree in Neuroscience and Studio Art. Along with being a TIDES Peer Mentor, she is involved with being a student worker in the Art Department, Tulane’s MMA club, Tulane University Neuroscience Association (TUNA,) and the pre-medical society. An interesting fact about Megan is that she comes from a family of eight children!

Rebekah Oviatt

Rebekah Oviatt is in the class of 2020! She is a Linguistics major from Bellingham, Washington. If you don't know where that is, basically go to where the Washington-Canadian border meets the Pacific Ocean, and then turn around. On campus, she is involved in NAMI (the National Alliance on Mental Illness) On-Campus, Project HEAL, and has previously been involved with Trash 2 Treasure, TUlinked First Year Mentorship Initiative, SHAC (the Student Health Advisory Committee), and Tower & Crescent. Her go-to fun fact is that she is a semi-professional rapper!

Off campus she is in involved with a Tulane Elementary School Reading Buddy program and is looking forward to volunteering in more schools in the future. Lexi loves going on adventures and has traveled to 26 countries and hiked over 170 miles of the Appalachian Trail.

Tai Soladay is from Marin County, CA and is in the Class of 2021. She is majoring in Public Health and Environmental Studies and is involved in Sigma Delta Tau, Alpha Phi Omega, and Alpha Lambda Delta.  She loves to travel, wants to work for non-profits when she’s older (ideally in developing countries), has played basketball her whole life, her family is from Cape Town, and Pad Thai is 100% her favorite food.

A fun fact about Evan is that he eats the orange and the peel!

Leila Buehler

Leila Buehler is from Austin, TX and is in the Class of 2021. She is an Art History and Communications Major, and Spanish Minor. She is involved in Tower and Crescent Alumni Association, Tulane Performing Arts Society, and is a Certified Vixen Dance Instructor. Together, her and her father have the goal of hiking the tallest mountain in all of the 50 states. So far, they have succeeded in hiking Guadalupe Peak in Texas and Mount Elbert in Colorado.

Amanda Bartolini is from Scottsdale, Arizona and is in the Class of 2021. She is majoring in Cell and Molecular Biology and is involved in After School Allies, Pre-Med society, Tulane Jewish Leaders, and Emerging Leaders Program. Fun Fact: her middle name is Starr!

Annie Cheung

Annie Cheung (class of 2021) is originally from China but has lived in Texas for 3 years.  She recently declared a major in B.A. Economics and is also on a pre-med track. She lived in Butler hall during her freshman year and was the president of the community government. She is also involved in intramural CoRec basketball and is an active member of our Tulane Chinese Student and Scholars Association. She loves traveling, cooking, reading and doing yoga, and has been to over 10 countries around the world. She is very honored and excited to serve as a TIDE peer mentor for the Fall 2018 Semester!

Kacy Henwood is from Olathe, Colorado and is in the Class of 2021. She is majoring in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology and is involved in Healthwave RLC and Rotaract. She has hiked a Fourteener (14,000 ft+ mountain peak).

Alexandra Greengrass is an Environmental Biology major in Tulane's Class of 2021 and is originally from Montclair, NJ. She is involved in environmental programming on campus through: Food Justice Advocates, Green Club, and USG Sustainability Committee. She also took part in The Changemaker Institute and Project IX: Design to End Sexual Assault. Fun fact: she took one course on Socrates, and now thinks she know everything.

Lauryn Aviles

Lauryn Aviles is from Cortlandt Manor, NY (a two-star town about an hour north of Manhattan). She is a second-year student at Tulane (Go Class of 2021!) studying English and minoring in Studio Art and Spanish. On campus, she is involved in the Residence Hall Association, and off-campus she teaches ESL classes to young mothers. Some fun facts about Lauryn are that she once broke her collarbone while cliff-jumping, and is working towards obtaining her skydiving license. She can't wait to meet all of you soon! Roll Wave!

Kennon Stewart

Kennon Stewart is a rising sophomore from Detroit, Michigan (Class of 2021). He is majoring in mathematics and is a member of the honor board, BridgeTU (a political advocacy organization), and sits on the Committee for Diversity and Inclusive Excellence. He also does research with the Center for Academic Equity as well as the Chemistry department. He lived on the Canadian border and once was throwing rocks into the river and was brought home by the Coast Guard because it was technically "an attack on Canadian soil".

Bridget Lee

Bridget Lee is a pre-health neuroscience major in the class of 2021. Her home is St. Louis, where she has left her three younger brothers and her dog. You can guess who she misses more. She is a cheerleader here at TU, serving her second season during the 2018-2019 school year. She looks forward to becoming more involved on campus as she finds her niche. Fun Fact: her senior year of high school, she was awarded 1st place in the talent show. She did the Cupid Shuffle on her pogo stick.

Alyssa Kim

Alyssa Seowoo Kim is from Seoul, South Korea and is in the Class of 2021. She lived in Kansas City, MO for 4 years and since people could never pronounce her Korean name, she chose for her name to be Alyssa.

Currently, she is a Political Science and Cognitive Studies double major in the School of Liberal Arts, with hopes of being part of Tulane's Creative Premedical Scholars Program. Following graduation, she plans to attend medical school and work in the field of pediatric neurology, as well as advocate for the rights of those with autism and other neurodevelopment disorders. On campus, she is involved with the Tulane Premedical Society, the Tulane Neuroscience Association, Best Buddies, Phi Delta Epsilon medical fraternity, Kappa Alpha Theta, and the Uptown Funk Dance Group. Some of her personal interests include fitness, fashion, reading, and dancing; in fact, she performed in the 2015 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade with her high school's dance team! As a peer mentor, she is looking forward to developing relationships with members of the incoming freshman class, and is excited to get to know all of them. Roll Wave!

Ann Kapustiak

Ann Kapustiak is a member of Tulane's Class of 2021. She is from Park Ridge, Illinois- just northwest of Chicago. She is on the Pre-Law track and double majoring in Political Science and Psychology. Along with being a TIDES Peer Mentor, she is a member of Tulane's Pre-Law Fraternity Phi Alpha Delta. Additionally, she has worked in Tulane's Theatre Department in technical theatre and costumes. A fun fact about Ann is that she always carries around a pocket-sized version of the Constitution.

Anya Sondhi is in the class of 2021 here at Tulane, and is from Belmont, Massachusetts (right outside of Boston). She is majoring in Neuroscience and Psychology on the Pre-med track. Sloan Livaccari is in the class of 2021. She was born in New Orleans, a unique, vibrant city. Growing up here enhanced her ability to understand how we exist within our environment and each other. She is still navigating what exactly she wants her major(s) to be, but is interested in how art, psychology, and environmentalism intersect to create an understanding of our identity and connection to our environment and others. She wants to work in education and other institutions to create a more empathetic, expressive, and sustainable future. She is a Newcomb Scholar and involved in TUCP, FIT, QSA, and Green Club as well as community organizations such as 350 NOLA and Peace Advocacy Network. She is constantly searching for new knowledge, creating relationships in every space she enters. LaKia is a sophomore majoring in Neuroscience, but her passions lie in reproductive health and justice. She conducts research on STDs and reproductive oncology at the LSU Health Sciences Center. She is also a Justice for the Undergraduate Student Government (USG) Judicial Council and a Newcomb Scholar who is involved with Students United for Reproductive Justice (SURJ), Newcomb Senate, and the Minority Association of Pre-Medical Students, she also participates in community outreach in New Orleans with a focus on disease prevention and health literacy.
