The Success Center celebrates the diversity of human minds and the endless variations in neurocognitive functioning. Success Coaches understand that success is personal. We want to help you get there! 

What is Success Coaching at Tulane?

Tulane Success Coaches are professional coaches, credentialed through the International Coach Federation, who support undergraduate students in their academic, personal, and career success. Through regular one-on-one meetings, Success coaches assist students in exploring their unique processing styles and ingrained habits/beliefs, as well as creating actionable steps to meet student goals. Coaches frequently partner with students on the following topics: executive function concerns, neurodiversity, time-management, motivation, testing anxiety, stress management, college transition, and decision-making.

All Tulane Success Coaches hold advanced degrees; as well as, receive credentialing as a life coaches through the International Coach Federation (ICF).

The coaching relationship is established based on the student's needs, and the roles of coach and student are clearly defined at the beginning of the partnership. Together, the coach and student create an individualized success plan that involves short term and long term goal setting.

Coaches at Tulane, utilize several helping frameworks such as Growth vs. Fixed Mindset, ICF Coach Training, ADHD coaching techniques, Positive Psychology, and Motivational Interviewing in their work with students. Drawing from various theories and frameworks, coaches assist students in reaching their unique goals related to their academic, career, and personal pursuits 

Coaching Impact 

  • Students who have below a 3.0 GPA and engage in the Success Coaching process (5-11 meetings) experience a half of a letter grade or .53 increase over their previous semester GPA. (15-16 EOY Data)
